Research Projects:Evolution of queen-worker dimorphism in ants. Dispersal and loss of wings. Colony-founding behaviours (independent or together with nestmate workers). Comparative study of queenless ants. Dominance hierarchies and reproduction. Pheromonal regulation of reproduction (link between egg-laying activity and changes in cuticular hydrocarbons).
